Formed in August 1976 to preserve the heritage of Blacktown and its surrounds, and to document its history in books and periodicals.
The Society meets monthly and is entertained by guest speakers with interesting accounts of history in Blacktown and beyond, anecdotal talks and Powerpoint presentations. Members are kept informed of society events through our monthly newsletter Turret Talk, the quarterly journal The Turret, and through this website.
We'll keep you up to date with Blacktown's developing history, as well as uncover some great facts about our past, and have information of upcoming events and guest speakers at our monthly meetings. If you aren't already a member, joining the Society will entitle you to some great benefits, including access to even more great articles and discounts.
A number of our Members have compiled a new publication based on stories from Old Blacktown and the surrounding District. This publication is now available for sale at $30 per copy.
More information can be found on our Publications page.
